Woohoo. Me too!

What dates suit - I think we'd be best to keep it as close to summer weather as possible - don't want to have my 1st bivvying experience in the snow. What about a quick up'n'down either Fri 4th Sep or Sat 5th Sep. We could bomb down after work Friday, meet at Meelmore Lodge at say 7pm - would be plenty of time to get up and organised. If we get to Hares Gap and the weathers suitable and it's not too late we could bomb on up Bernagh..

Lets compare kit lists and weights:

I've been through my kitlist and discounting food, a couple of bungees and maybe some titanium pegs, this is my initial list (weighed on the wifes cooking scales) :
Jetboil+gas 800
Tarp+guys+pegs 900
Sleeping bag 1200
Self inflating mat 1000
Berghaus freeflow 30+6 Rucksack 1500
Bivi bag 400
Drinking bladder (1L water) 1000
Total 6.8Kg

What do you all think - have I missed anything? I could dump the self inflating mat but I'd probably not get much of a nights sleep then. I could also get a smaller tarp but I like the idea that I could make an A-Frame with a walking pole if the weather was nasty.

Also, I think I'm definately going to get a travel tap. Serious weight reduction always gets scuppered when you factor in water and the travel tap is supposed to be excellent. (Link to travel tap http://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/product353.asp)

looks like I'm gettin the scales out tonight.
Either of those dates suit me so I'll see what the rest of you guys   think.

So 6.8kg is the score to beat.

you'll never look back chris. 8-11g per stove is some drop in weight.

I'm really gonna push myself on this.

Heres a good resource for some weight saving ideas

I had considered it but it's my lads last weekend of the summer so I don't want to be going away.
