Irish Bushcraft Club

About the Club

Our aim is simple. We hope to study and practice the skills of Bushcraft and wilderness living as practiced by people around the globe both past and present. We hope to increase awareness of the natural resources available throughout the country in relation to our activity.

We are a non profit organisation with no commercial interests. We do not charge for our knowledge or our time. We have the right to admit entry to the club. If we feel that someone acts outside of the clubs constitution, their membership of the club will be removed. This may seem harsh but this point must be made. We do not wish to attract people to the club who may be a danger to themselves, others or the natural resources used by the club.

The Club Founder

Donal Carroll is currently a student of Outdoor education and Adventure Skills management. He is involved with Rock Climbing, Kayaking, Mountaineering, Sailing, Power boating, Rescue Swimming and Snorkelling through the course and hopes to come out with a Diploma at the end of this academic year. He currently holds a FETAC level 5 Certificate in Outdoor recreation studies.

Donal also studied in DCU and holds a degree in Computer Applications and has worked as a Network Engineer. He decided to return to his first love, the outdoors after going on a week long wilderness course run by Anthonio Akkermans 3 years ago. In his words, he founded the club in order "facilitate the practice of bushcraft and primitive living skills with like minded people" Although Donal started the club, it was with the assistance of others that it has begun to grow

He is also a Corporal in the Reserve Defence Forces and has instructed on both Technical and Tactical elements within the military. He has 9 years of service with reserve, with 4 as an NCO.
