The Scout Shop Belfast
« on: May 05, 2009 »

The Belfast Scout Shop has existed in one form or another since 1939. It was first set up simply to supply members of the Scout Movement in Northern Ireland with uniforms, badges and camping gear. As family camping and then ski-ing became popular activities, the Scout Shop extended its operations and gained an enviable reputation with the wider public for friendly, personal service and giving good value for money.

The Scout Shop, Camp and Ski Centre Limited is now a charitable trading subsidiary of the Belfast County Scout Council, so the Shop’s profits go to help our Northern Ireland Scout Movement which is a registered charity.

Although continuing to be the major supplier to scouting in Northern Ireland the Scout Shop nowadays sells over three quarters of its turnover to members of the general public including those from a number of organisations ranging from walking and rambling clubs to the Guide Movement and schools, whose pupils are regularly equipped for President’s Badge or Duke of Edinburgh Award activities, plus of course school ski trips. Our knowledgeable staff specializes in helping skiers with practical advice (including the option of hiring ski clothing) and supplying all the necessary ski accessories at really keen prices.

In Spring and Summer when attention turns to camping and the outdoors you can again be sure of finding the right equipment and good advice, whether it is for family weekends or gearing up for student gap-year trips to foreign climes – the Scout Shop has all you need from rucksacks, lightweight tents, stoves, family tents and sleeping bags to mosquito nets, first aid kits, expedition meals, walking boots and hats.

The Shop is managed on a day to day basis by Managing Director, Miss Jean McBride and our Shop Manager, Mrs Paddy Cooper. They and other members of the staff, have many years experience in the trade and can give practical advice based on their own experience of the products and on our customers’ satisfaction with the various items for camping, hiking or ski-ing.

If you don’t see what you’re looking for on our website just email shop [at] scouting-ni.org.uk (replace [at] with @) or phone 028 9032 0580.

We may well have what you want in our shop stock, or be able to source it for you at our remarkably good value prices.
