I've used http://www.springfield-camping.co.uk a few times. They were excellent with fast delivery. But as usual postage was quite expensive - £10 per order if I remember correctly. I've also ordered some more mainstream stuff from Amazon. They're actually very reasonably priced for gear and if you spend more that £15 delivery is free.

Would be nice to source stuff in Northern Ireland where either postage was cheap or I could drive over and collect. Maybe some retailers could post their info.

In Northern Ireland, it would appear that Tiso, Jacksom sports and Cotswold have the largest choice of equipment. Most of the others are a lot smaller or seem to be only into campsite type camping.
On the net though, there are hundreds.
here are a few links of some good ones I've used in the past.

The Ray Mears website is suprisingly reasonable for some stuff. The Mears branded items (especially the knives) are really expensive but the general items are just as cheap as elsewhere. May as well be giving your hard earned to Mears who lets be honest, is a national hero!

If you are just starting out I wouldn't recommend you spend a lot of money on gucchi gear in case you don't take to it.
I am only speaking about bushcraft here as I have no experience to the other outdoor pursuit's i.e canoeing, fell running etc, etc.
For bushcraft the most important tool would be the knife, for that I would buy a mora frost which you can pick up for about £10 almost anywhere on the site's Celt Ginger mentioned.
As for clothing I wouldn't be spending a load of cash on brand's such as Berghaus, Northface when you could go to a second hand shop and pick stuff up for next to nothing, the best by far is Ex military clothing which has been tried and tested to destruction and hold's up great. It's just a pity there isn't more army surplus store's in this country.
Once you get more involved I would start investing in more expensive kit but I am only talking about a gortex jacket or something that is essential when you are out but saying that I would alway's refer back to the army surplus as like I said before it has stood the test's of time, then again not everyone want's to run about the wood's looking like Rambo.
T.K maxx is another good store for doing outdoor kit cheap.
Davy.
