Redburn Micro Adventure/Dander.
« on: November 04, 2016 »

Micro adventure Ha back in my day they were called a good dander but hey ho off i went.

Had loads of free time this weekend the missus was away for a night to Dublin which was giving me all day Friday and Saturday to myself.  The plan was Cavehill on Friday and a crack at Lamagan and Cove in the Mournes on Saturday but as anyone with a couple of teenagers knows this all hinges on them and they tag teamed me with those immortal words "Dad can you take me and pick me up"  a double whammy, that was it all plans where out the window.

With only an hour or two to spare and still wanting to do something Redburn was an obvious choice 10mins in the car and im there.

Lovely colours at this time of year.  A few of those photos look like a man scoping out a few wild camping spots  ;)  Cheers for sharing.

It's my favourite time of the year, some of the colours you get from the trees are spectacular and the different contrasting colours really let you see the beauty in it all but it's short lived as the first of the winter storms aren't too long stripping the trees back to their branches.
Redburn would generally be an in and out in the dark regarding a camp, its a busy wee spot with the usual dog walkers and there's a well signposted 5k trail run so you would have to be pretty stealthy.

Brilliant Glenn, great photos and a nice write-up, some interesting information from that neck of the woods. The Dunvilles are quite the family!

Great stuff. You inspired me to check out Redburn myself. I packed the stove and a bag of burgers and took the youngest up there on Sunday for an impromptu picnic. Lovely area but hilly and on Sunday, bollock freezing cold :P Still, was a great day out though even though a dog did try and nobble my burgers straight from the pan!
