The weather looks potentially unseasonably good this Saturday so I'm tempted to take my 11 year old for a hike in the Mournes since I've been away a good few weekends and he hasn't been able to come. I haven't planned much but I'd be tempted to do Donard since it's got a good path all the way to the top.

Like I say, it would only be if the weather was reasonable. Would probably be looking to be at Newcastle by 10am for a quick up/down, then home for sofa time.

Allcomers welcome as long as no-one minds children. Weather is definitely looking good - might be the last gasp of summer before Autumn rolls in!! Couldn't be a better time to bounce up Donard  8)

Well if youre in the area and could be arsed, theres orienteering around silent valley on saturday morning, hosted by Lagan Valley Orienteers, heading down to it myself.

Might spend a couple hours running* round the Mournes afterwards, but will see how things pan out.

Weather was totally awesome - no clouds and non-stop sunshine. If anything it was so hot it made it hard to do the steeper parts. We'd a top time and the small boy had no issues making it to the top. There was a sponsored walk for Menengitis so the place was full and we passed dozens of other walkers, including kids as young as 5 would you believe.

Pics to follow!

That's not me, thats Billy_Backpack. Unfortunately photos of me are few and far between since I'm always behind the camera.

It truly was a beautiful day on Sat. Myself and a couple of mates were on the other side of the Mournes, orienteering around Silent Valley in a LVO event. After a bit of a nightmare around the first control it was quite a good wee run, and thankfully my ankles are still intact for next weeks fun!  :D

Plenty of people about walking around silent valley park, also a lot of young orienteers from accross the UK running in the Junior Inter-Regionals Competition. Weather was great for it, and a long way from the usual weather that accompanies orienteering, hopefully the forecasted break in the weather is delayed until sunday evening!

Always good to see a couple photos. Would add a couple pics from Silent Valley but left my camera in Belfast  >:( , maybe add a couple some other time
