Mourne Mountain Marathon 2010
« on: September 19, 2010 »

Got a phone call from Billy Backpack at 4pm on Friday afternoon because his Mourne Marathon 2010 Running Partner had pulled out at the last minute. I think he must have thought to himself "who's stupid enough to take their place at such short notice" and decided I fitted the bill  :o

By 4:02pm I was signed up and raring to go  ;D

Here's a few photos of the event.  Sorry I don't have a load of pics to display, but it only stopped raining for about 10 minutes the whole time, and I didn't want to get my new camera soaked.

Big congrats to all who took part and especially to Twentyclicks who finished 2nd in Group C.  Well done mate  ;)

If I get a bit of time tomorrow I'll throw a few captions up, but for now... the kids are in bed and I'm gonna relax in front of the telly with a few drinks  8)

I think Andy was in need of a big hug at this stage!!!

It's amazing how difficult a tent is to put up after 19km in artic conditions

Twentyclicks with his magic running potion (Port I think lol)

Seriously though, well done guys!  And curse you Dow for stepping into the breach, I thought I was going to be getting a free t-shirt on Friday afternoon :D

I have the D route and campsite details...  To much to type in right now but I'll scan in the route cards tomorrow, in work, and post them here for your amusement.

We passed one of the marshalls who was collecting checkpoints on the way up Slieve Beg, so that explains where he was coming from.  So did anyone use the Coachroad to get to that checkpoint?!

i took today off work the tendons at the back of my right knee and done in, and seeing the whole 2 days in screen I can understand why.

worth it though. Me and MG1 were planning MMM2011 on the car on the way home.
