We'll be taking a weather permitting trip to Salt Island on Saturday 24th July and staying until Sunday. We'll hopefuly book a few spots in the bothy but plan to camp outside.

There are probably 2 Canadians with 4 adults + 2 kids going at the moment and everyone with water transport is welcome.

Unfortunately the gale force winds cancelled this weekend so we are rescheduling for the 24th July

I'd love to, but my only water based transport would be my own arms swimming across!  I'm wondering if I could hire a canoe or sit on top kayak for the weekend though.  There is an adventure place at Castle Ward and I think they might hire out canoes and kayaks.  Could be wrong though, and I don't have a roof rack any more so unless I wanted a long paddle it wouldn't be very feasible Wink

Not totally organised yet. Probably out Saturday late morning/early afternoon, home Sunday same sort of time. We're flexible though!

The weather was awful for the weekend so we are rescheduling this for 24th July. Fingers crossed we get some decent weather then!

Okay, unsuprisingly the 24th also looks crap. Postponing again. However, we're going to have a camp instead so anyone that fancies sigh up here:

I'm not really sure about hiring for personal use, ie not with the people hiring. Check out Mobile Team Adventure - think they do.

There is a place called Clearsky Adventure based at Castle Ward who hire Canadian's, sit-on top and sea kayaks.  If you pop their name into Google it will come up with their website which has the hire rates.  They only give an hourly, 1/2 day and daily rate but I'm curious to know whether they would provide an overnight rate if you explained you were doing an overnighter on Salt Island.  My only issue is getting from Castle Ward to Salt Island... probably a fair old paddle and I don't know how they would feel about disappearing with a canoe strapped to your roof rack!  Worth a phone call though... if you find out anything lemme know!
