Hi Christopher, welcome to the forum.
From Larne, you're on the door-step of the Sallagh Braes and The Antrim Hills, well worth a visit and a great place to start hiking in. The Mournes are wonderful but it's always great to explore your own backyard and you'll get stunning views along the coast. You can walk out the Killyglen Rd to the Sallagh Braes, it's less than six miles to Knockdhu, so it's highly do-able.

Alternatively you can get to the Braes and Antrim Hills from the Linford car-park on the Feystown Rd, behind Ballygally. This'll give you easier access to longer sections of The Antrim Hills.

Welcome Christopher. Glenarrif is awesome and you can make your way out the top and head all the way up Trostan if you're feeling particularly energetic  8). Plus it has Laragh Lodge which is a great place for a spot of lunch and a swift half :)
