Summit tonight - Doan
« on: July 08, 2015 »

Hi folks,

Feeling the need again and Doan will be another off the list.
Quite happy to solo but in case anyone else out there is heading up,  I'm the thing moving about up on Doan ;-)

Might stay a second night and wander off in the general 'top of Ben Crom Reservoir / shelter stone' direction then home via brandy pad and bloody bridge next day...

Best regards,
Geo...

Doan is one of my Favourite summits to camp on, though unfortunately I can't make it tonight.

Have a good one and hope it stays dry for you!

Stayed Dry :)

Nothing really to write.  Went up, camped and came back down :)

Except for the big hole in the ground that seems to be from water running below the ground.

BOKE!

Muck up to the knees but socks stayed bone dry.
Gortex boots rock! :)

Hard to beat getting out for an overnighter.
Those adventurefood meals are pretty good aren't they?
I quite like the chicken curry, it's a little bland, but for something so light and quick to prepare it's not half bad!

Brilliant pics, Doan's a great summit. Scary that hole appearing, anyone know how new that is?

I'm guessing the hole is on the slopes of Carn Mountain, where you cross over from the Ott track.  That section has been getting bouncy for a wee while and I've noticed a few holes opening up there.  The Akto looks like a fantastically well designed and stable wee tent.

Nice pics, looks like a cracker of a wee trip.

Brilliant photos!

I headed up for an overnight stay on Tuesday on account of it being so calm (0 mph wind forecast for during the night) walking as the crow flies to the north part of Doan I muttered audibly that I'd need to find better ground as "ye could fall into a hole here and not even see it". Seriously, I didn't have those words out of my mouth for 3 seconds before I fell into a hole approx waist deep.

Doh!Though, lucky it was dry.
