Accommodation In and around the Mournes
« on: March 22, 2015 »

Looking to do a bit of hill walking in the Mournes and was looking accommodation in around the mournes area for the wife and I around second week in July .
Simple B&B   or similiar.
Like to have our creature comforts after a good days walk , shower etc.
Any advice would be appreciated . Slieve Donard is just too pricey

There are just too many to list but http://www.hutthostel.com/ gets great reviews, its in the town so handy for all the pubs (very near Slieve Donard hotel).

Out of town you could try http://www.tollyrose.com/ its very near Tollymore Mountain Centre, no pubs nearby though :-(

If you fancy self catering try http://www.torybush.com/

Meelmore lodge has a B&B style place (http://meelmorelodge.co.uk/).  http://themournelodge.com/ is another one I see coming up a bit.

There's a place called the Mourne Lodge that myself and Oisin stayed in for the night before the Mourne Mountain Marathon. The Lady that runs it couldn't be nicer and was so thoughtful. It's backpackers type accommodation but I couldn't say enough in its favour: it was awesome! The lady even offered to make us packed lunches for the MMM at no extra cost! Google Mourne Lodge Or the number is 07918 197000.
