Ahoy hoy...
« on: September 16, 2016 »

Hi everyone,

My name's Marc and have just joined the site. have enjoyed walking in the Mournes and biking in the parks for a good while now and am off for my first wild camp tonight! Saddle between Commedagh and Donard, then walk tomorrow to Trassey track Car park. Thanks for all the help and advice I found in the forums here. May see some of you over the weekend.

Thanks,

Marc

Hi guys. Thanks for the welcome. Had a great night. A bit less sleep than I would've liked, but was thinking that might happen! Wasn't on the road at the time I expected yesterday (late out of work), so ended up going beside the Trassey river, a wee spot I had seen before that looked good. Looked like I wasn't the first there either - the remains of a few camp fires about! Followed it with a walk up to Hare's Gap, along the Brandy Pad to the saddle of Commedagh and Donard, and down to Donard park. Really busy round the Brandy Pad today. Really was great. That said, I need to invest in some lighter gear! Learned a lot on the first trip! Can't wait for the next one.
