Here's a wee video of yesterday's hike in the mournes. It was meant to be a camp hence the large backpack but the ground was mostly too waterlogged so I just made it a loop around. 7.2 miles in total. Happy Easter folks!

Looked a wee tad breezy at the top. I was down that way myself today for a scalp on the bike, Newcastle was chocka blocked ( standard issue for easter)

Looks like one of those days when you enjoy the challenge of the weather and the fresh feeling it gives, but you're happy enough to get down out of the mountains too.

I was really looking forward to a camp but sometimes you just have to give up. Too windy at the top and saturated ground at the bottom. I wish I'd have packed my hammock instead but never thought. It would've been perfect to end up at Fofanny for the night. Maybe next time!

Fonfanny may have felt like a great refuge after the earlier weather. Between the pair of Meels is pretty good dry ground, I've stayed there a couple of times. Alternatively there is a wee spot in the forest at the bottom of the happy valley.

It wasn't actually too bad between the mountains but by the time I was looking for camp, I was way past it. I was also thinking at the river just before Hares gap but by the time I was there, it was pitch black and I had made my mind up to head for the car lol. Where's happy valley?

Happy Valley is the one between Meelmore and Meelbeg. It is right on along toward the end of Trassey road if you keep driving on past Melmore lodge etc. There is a small car park at the bottom.
I have left my car there on a few overnighters on both Meelmore and Meelbeg.
