THIS MONTHS THEME IS "ON THE STREET"

Please email your entry for the Monthly Photo Competition to here: photocomp@ni-wild.co.uk

Please do not post in this thread until the photographs have been displayed, then the chat can begin. We will start a new thread for each month.

I have received a couple of entries already and it's only fair that these are not displayed until all entries are in.

All entries need to be submitted by 3pm on Monday 31st January and will be displayed here shortly after.

STOP THE PRESS - We have a late entry!!!

I reckon Landyliam has possibly got his hands on the First Prize of a Bottle of Bush already, but here you go.  Feast your eyes  :D

"Downpatrick in the good ol days, them were the years.

For this competition I used a "oldy time" filter passed down to me from an Uncle who used to work in the DeLorean Special Projects Department when the flux capacitor was developed. The filter was an early prototype he rescued from the bin due to its limiting one way time system, it could only go back and therefore was of little use to the film industry although John DeLorean himself made enquiries to its whereabouts after a certain hidden camera crew visited his house! Interestingly it also has the ability to convert text from English to Ulster Scots, as evident in the sign on the left which reads "No Witing Th Side" which should of course read "car wash here every friday afternoon" (you'll have to check the Ulster Scots Urban Dictionary for that one ;) )".

AND THE WINNER IS:----

Jonno Asked me to Judge the images submitted so I will give some feedback on these first.

Image 1:-  Good to see the rule of thirds being used in this picture with the main emphasis on the text on the gable wall. However there seems to be too much dead space on the right of the image.

Image 2:-   The street one has a great sky, but I found the car a bit distracting, and think with a bit of creative cropping or re shooting        without the car, would improved it.

Image 3:-   The subway image is moving towards more creative photography, with the blurred out figure.

Image 4:-   Queens bridge is nice and clean. I would have left the shutter open longer to make the water more blurry though.

Image 5:-   For me the picture would have been the old lady in the background, otherwise I would have cloned her out totally.

So after looking at these images I have ranked the top three.

The winners are:-

1st Entry 4
2nd Entry 2
3rd Entry 3

Thanks for the feedback Kirth, and congratulations to the winner!

Lenny, I think you should suggest "Mountains of Africa" as the next photo subject :D

Perhaps this months winner should choose the next subject?

I think your right Liam... To many cars  :-[  Well, we'll know for the next time.  Hopefully the next topic will be a bit more outdoorsy/mountainy so we can keep the cars out of our shots, although there's always the risk you might pop up in the hills somewhere in your Landy  ;)

Entry 2 was mine, if you hadn't guess from the number plate on the car already, so thanks loads for saying you like it the best  ;D ;D ;D

Oh and congrats to the Winner who I do believe is Redleader with Entry 4.  Redleader, could you PM me your choice of topic for February.  Thanks and Well Done  :)

Well go me, I am indeed the Queens Bridge pic. I'll have to share some of the props with Suspectmonkey as he helped me take it.

I'll go with something nice and broad for next month so it's easy to choose a pic.

Next months topic is "Water".

Scribble incredibly kindly donated a bottle of whiskey as a prize, I'll roll it into next month and the winner can give me a victory slurp :)
