While driving on Comber Road towards Hillsborough on Tuesday afternoon, 29 July  I stopped with a gentleman carrying a rucksack to offer a lift.  He declined but wished to confirm directions.  I spoke with him and ascertained that he was from Holland and on a walking holiday to Ireland.

He was initially seeking directions to the "campsite" shown on the map at Anahilt, its on the Magheraconluce Rd.  I was unable to recommend this to him as I have never been there, nor has anyone else I know of, so he opted for a B&B which I was able to suggest for him.

He explained that he is heading south east and intended to walk through Newcastle, the Mournes and I learned later from staff at The Pheseant where he stopped for refreshment on to Cork and Galway.

I was glad that I was able to stop and have a brief chat with him.  If you see him perhaps you would extend a campers courtesy to him.  He is a man I suppose in his 50's, white/silver hair and well tanned carrying a green rucksack.

For some reason he looked relaxed, at peace with himself and contented.  I wonder why?!

i've visited that campsite when a friend was staying there for a few days and he was happy with it, not much in the area though if walking
