Eagle rock's,Climbing
« on: May 13, 2012 »

Well spend the day with some very experienced climbers indeed, alanrsv, edd, bigE,Twentyclicks, & Annie-anne,landyliam,Gerry,unable to climb myself as i don't have enough wall time yet & i'am still nursing a recent injury, anyway it was great to experience some climbing for a change, something differant to add to the pot.We met at Donard park & made our way up Glen Valley crossing the stream & up the steep ground to Eagle rock, which i've never exactly walked over to before, felt like a bit of a gooseberry at times watching all the climbers kit up,but sure no point being a know-all & end up dead  :P,that said i learned a lot from everyone there & they all took the time explaining about knot's & all the differant pieces of gear.BigE lead the climb today with two 60 Metre rope's side by side, must say think he really enjoyed leading fixing all the gear into place & fair play to him as he done a great job, in  turn they all ascended, then some abseiled down & some tackled the steep ground to the side, meanwhile in true 'Hobbit form' i fired up the stove & it was tea, coffee & scones for me.We made our way back down the valley with the bad weather moving in behind us!All in all a great day out with some very skilled folk, looking forward to the next one  ;D

Here some photo's & a movie from today

Cheers for the photos & video John (and the music, and offers of hot brews)!

Climb was Resonant Flakes (VDiff). Congratulations to BigE; jumping in to his first lead with consummate ease. He made it look easy despite the strong gusty wind.

Huge thanks to Alan and Ed for taking us up. It was great meeting them, and I had a super day altogether  ;D
