Post by: mregan on January 25, 2013
I got a new camera so I am am still learning it.  These were taken last Monday.  With the exception of the last one was taken by a passing photographer Simon Mills.

What Camera make and model did you get? I recently got the Finepix S2980 which I am still learning to use.

Fuji XP170 Its just a point and shoot with some manual setting controls.  I have a canon DSLR as well but I got the wee fuji for out on the bike.  Shock, waterproof etc.

Nice photos! The 4th one shows a lot of snow bearing down on the branches.

Im not overly impressed with the Fuji Finepix I bought the wife as a present. In fact its very rarely used. Maybe we're both just used to the crystal clear photos from my Nikon dslr.

Do you have different tyres for the snow or is it all just part of the fun?

You can get specific snow tyres with spikes. But for all we get I don't bother. I use a tubeless tyre set up so I can run very low pressures.

Snow is very grippy so it normally isn't an issue. Harder to climb in but the descents are similar to a muddy trail.  It's all part of the craic though and for all the snow we get it's good to get out and get a bit sideways.  The good thing about Tollymore is the forest service seem to drive all the fire roads so pedalling up in their tracks helps us.

Down you can plow through fresh snow and drifts like an off piste snowboarder/skier
