Devils Coachroad 20th January 2018
« on: June 19, 2018 »

I had always wanted to try a sunrise shoot around the Devils Coachroad area in the Mournes with the idea of the rising sun lighting up Cove, Beg and Slieve Lamagan to my right.
In late January i decided to give it a go, snow had fallen in the couple of day previous and the forecast for the morning was any snow/rain clearing up from 6am and broken cloud hopefully giving me a chance of a nice sunrise. I was walking from before 6am up the Trassey Track to Hares Gap and then along the Brandy Pad to the Devils Coachroad. It started to snow shortly after i started to walk and from Hares Gap i was pushing my way through up to 1ft of snow with my head down in a blizzard! So much for the forecast. When i got light there was definately no sign of a sunrise though the views were still spectacular.
