Best Camp Breakfast
« on: July 23, 2009 »

What's your idea of a great camp breakfast? For me, it's gotta be the full Ulster fry. Transporting the eggs can be a challenge but it's worth it. Bannok and bacon is also a good one.

Anything with bacon is fine with me. I've never made bannock but I hear nothing but good things about it. Will have to look up a recipe one of these days and have a crack at it..

Porridge. simple as! oats keep for ever, stick em in a sandwich bag and its light as a feather with no rubbish packets and full of energy! Although you cant go wrong with a few sausages either!

Hey guys - first post :)

Best brekky for me gotta be bacon and potato bread.
Tried it for the first time, when I last went camping - usually it was just bacon and toast, or bacon and sodas, but the potato bread is well tastier and its easier to carry I think.
Defiantley not as bulky as sodas, and not as fragile as bread.

...good point about the porridge though, and it makes you a damn sight less likely to drink your entire 3 days water supply in one go after a greasy fry up   ;D

yeah! good call.

I think breakfast has to be the tastiest meal of the day.
Lets face it, lying in your hammock staring bleary eyed out at another cold Northern Ireland morn, only the thought of something warm and tasty is going to coax you out of that sleeping bag!

...and then you have to light the fire.... with the wood that you should have left under the tarp the previous night but forgot.... now its raining, and everything is wet.... damn  ;D

This Bannock sounds the part, but ultimate brekkie for me would have to be sausage, bacon and soda

I dont like too much fuss in the morning....I cheat I have a protein bar and a muesli flapjack (Ma Bakers) and some coffee. Sometimes I will have a couple of Mullerice instead of the flapjack.....

|For me it's four big sausages between two thick cuts of crusty bread or a Belfast bap smothered in butter with half a bottle of the old H.P.
a big mug of tea or a bottle of ice cold diet coke :o(sort of defeats the purpose of the diet part).
Then you not hungry until tea time.
