Camping 22/02/14
« on: March 01, 2014 »

Hey all. I thought I would throw up a few photos of last weekends camping adventure.

This was my first camp of the year, and also my most attended with 8 of us in total! Normally there would only be three or for but I seem to have found a few more people who are interested in getting out into the outdoors.

It proved to be a great success, with mild temperatures and rain only for about an hour and a half on the Sunday morning. Just in time to get everything wet for packing it up lol.

Everyone enjoyed themselves, and I have already been asked to organise another camping outing at the end of this month!

Three of us stayed in basha shelters, while the other 5 were split between three tents. It was my first time using my Kayadyne water filter pump, which works a treat. Very quick to supply water(about 2L/min), and it takes up the same room as a 1L canteen, so it's a definite inclusion in my kit from now on.

Whereabouts were you camped? i thought first few pics looked like Annalong Wood but last one doesn't. I  understand if you don't want to disclose exact location.

Near Narrow Water in Warrenpoint.

It's a great spot but it does get a bit busy at times with mountain bikers thinking they own the place, cycling straight through the middle of camp lol.

Plenty of dead wood due to the recent storms, so we were able to get away without needing to cut any trees down, or causing too much of an impact to the woods.

This Annalong wood sounds like the place to be lol. I must check it out some time.

Annalong Wood is decent enough with at least half a dozen potential sites but they're very popular. Not too much dead wood left around them. Was camping there with a few friends on a cold, rainy weekend this January and another large group of campers headed past to set up just adjacent to us - shows how busy it can be. In the summer months it's packed!

Don't get down to the Warrenpoint side of the Mournes very often, will have to get exploring when I've time.

Looks like a good wee set up, and nice to see somewhere different.
