That sounds like you have the same problem I have: a wife that thinks all walking kit should be machine washed after every use (I regularly catch her machine washing her jacket & waterproof trousers..she now wonders why they are not waterproof any more...)

I have a big metal locker I took a lend of from the m.o.d when they where closing Mahon barracks , has a big lock on it to keep kids out + wife :) also any new gear can be stashed away awaiting the sentence" I've had that ages dear "
