Title: Paragliding
Post by: Big Dod on June 25, 2012
Hi Folks,

Quick post here about something I have decided to do that others may be interested in.

Paragliding.

Theres a few schools about but I am going to start my training with

http://www.firstflightparagliding.co.uk/1701.html

BHPA* Elementary Pilot Certificate Course (EP)
As long as it takes - £470 (£350 if 1 day taster already taken) Can be done in 4 - 5 days

BHPA * Club Pilot (Novice) Certificate Course (CPN)   -  (Fly unsupervised.)
As long as it takes - £470   Can be done in 4 - 5 days

And once you learn how to fly the thing you can do a conversion course to paramotor.
Or you can enroll in a paramotor course without getting your CPN licence first but best, I think, to learn how to glide without the motor first.

Couple of vids from youtube from the same guy.

First - Mournes from Tyrella

Second - Same guy having a bit of low level fun  ;D

Great to see our favourite peaks from those angles!

Thanks for the info. I'm very interested in paragliding, it's nice that there are courses locally.

I was looking to see if I could spot any tents on the summits in that first vid aye :)

Booking myself in for a one day taster (£120) with Bertie next time home.

If the weather holds I should have my elementary pilots licence by the end of September.

That and camping should be enough to keep me amused for many years to come.

Just need to convince 'My Beloved' that a paramotor purchase is way more impotent than a new cooker and sofa  ;D
