Hello.
« on: December 09, 2014 »

Hello everyone.  Ive just joined the site, have recently just got back to Northern Ireland and have been up the mournes, but would always be nice to find a few more like minded people.  Ive hiked around Europe a lot so have a good bit of experience, but every days still a learning day.

Thats my introductory speel over, time to get noosing through the forums.

Hello and thanks for the welcome.  Too date some of my favourite hikes were down in Bavaria. Any of you guys been anywhere interesting?

What are people's experiences with wildcamping at the mournes? Ive read a few posts of people doing it and not having any bother as long as they leave no trace?

Yup, that's about it.

The entire Mournes is private land so you are technically trespassing as long as you stay well away from farmer's fields and off the beaten track you can camp almost anywhere. If you are driving make sure you stick your car somewhere safe, Meelmore Camp Site, Newcastle, Carrick Plant Car Park (Carrick Little) or even Silent Valley Car Park (if you leave a note on your windscreen) are all a good job. Shout if you want exact details.
