I am looking for a hobby and would quite like to give hiking a shot. So any advice offered on this forum is more than welcome!

Welcome to the forum. Just fire the questions in and you'll get all the advice you need, also keep a wee eye out as there's usually something going on whether it be camps or hikes and if you are heading out and your maybe looking a bit of company stick a post up on invites for short notice trips and im sure you'll get someone who's able to join you. Happy plodding ;D
