Adventure Ideas
« on: October 12, 2013 »

Having tackled a few adventures on my to do list I've realised that creativity and not eagerness is a block on having really excellent adventures.

I thought that a topic on Adventure Ideas might help inspire us with our own outdoor adventures by people recommending either an Adventure/Hike/Event they've done themselves or always wanted to do.

Ideally suggestions should be able to be completed in a day or two days max and be outdoor inspired.

What's the best adventure or hike you've either done or wish to complete?

If you're thinking... "wait this might be a bit dangerous".... you're probably on the way to a good adventure!

I'll kick start it here with my own personal top 10 in no particular order:

1) The Mourne Wall
2) Running a Marathon
3) Building a raft and paddling down the Lagan
4) The Mourne Mountain Marathon
5) Exploring Percy Caves
6) Building a wild hut and sleeping in it overnight
7) Cycling across Ireland coast to coast
8) The high ropes course at Tollymore
9) Creating a geocache treasure hunt
10) Bagging Donard within an hour

I've completed some of the above and others I'm still to do. Hopefully someone might get a bit of inspiration from some of the ideas there.

-  A really gruelling one is the Mourne 500 challenge.

-  One for the long finger is to climb all of the 32 county high points.

-  A good account here of completing the Irish 4 Peaks
