Title: Moyle Way 12th to 14th July 2018
Post by: specimanYak on July 17, 2018
I've been wanting to do The Moyle Way for a few years now and the weather being perfect for a long hike, I decided to give it a go. Got the bus from Belfast to Bushmills on Thursday then changed over for the bus to Ballycastle, and set off for the hike around noon.

The walk itself covers forests trails, rolling hillsides, roads and bogs so there's quite a bit of variety underfoot. I camped on Slievenaorra, about halfway along the route, 22kms or 14 miles which would leave about 20kms to go. The next day after finishing in Waterfoot, I walked around the coast road to Galboly and pitched up on Garron Point for the night, then, in the morning, walked along the Garron Plateau into Carnlough for the bus home.

An excellent few days hiking new trails:

Wow Yak what a trip.  We did the Moyle Way a few years ago and had a great time.  There probably hasn't been a drier time to hit the Antrim Hills than recently.  What a special place Garron Point is, it is so atmospheric for a camp.  Really enjoyed the video.

Cheers G, it was an awesome trail to walk with the amount of varied terrain. The weather was ideal as some of the areas could get fairly boggy otherwise. I didn't see another person for about 30 hours, it was so quiet and deserted. Garron Point's a comfy little place to camp and I wouldn't mind exploring more of the Plateau, the views from it are amazing.
