Was looking at Alpkit stuff this morning after another post about their version of the Jetboil.

Looks like some nice kit, I may get the wire handled fork and knife and spoon set and one of these titanium pots to see how well they work.

I'm struggling to see where I would ever use the chainset, but part of me wants to get one anyway!

Their Mytipot 900 seems to be very similar to the MSR titanium kettle but about half the price.

Has any one got one of the MyTiPot 900s?

I'm just wondering if a Primus 230g cartridge fits inside it, the Alpkit bumf seems to suggest a 250g cartridge should fit, but looking at the Primus 230g cartridge and the photos showing the pot next to a soup tin, I'm not sure....

If you check the item page there is a "what makes this great section" That gives you both internal and external dimensions. Just measure your canister and see.

Doh, should have thought of that....

So the base of the canister is 10.9cm, the ID of the pot is 11.5cm. Looks like a winner to me.

I have just taken delivery of  the Mytipot 900. Its a great piece of kit and thanks to Redleader for drawing our attention to it.

 The pot is clearly similar to the popular MSR  Titan kettle, it differs in several details so its not just a rip-off clone.
 I weighed it on a precision balance and can confirm that it weighs within 1g of the specified weight and the stuffsack weighs an additional 17g. My experience of outdoor manufacturers shows that they are often optimistic when advertising the weight of products but Alpkit are entirely correct. It holds 900ml of water but 700ml would be the practical amount to avoid boiling over.
A lifeventure titanium mug will fit inside it with the lid closed by the way.

I'm now debating between the MyTiPot and the BruPot, interesting point about 900ml liquid possibly being too much to boil in one go.

I took another look at my Brupot and noticed a similar issue, a good rolling boil of a full 1lt would have the risk of it splashing over the rim. 900ml would likely be the most you would safely boil in the pot.

I figured that would probably be the case for the BruPot too, but that should generally be plenty, I'd have thought.

Definitely still leaning towards the BruPot at the moment.

Stefan, I think the Mytipot is probably the smallest that most people would get away with unless they want to cook their meals in instalments. Its ideal for solo lightweights, alpine bivouacs, etc. The extra capacity of the Brupot would certainly be welcome, especially for big eaters or cooking for two people. I had also considered a brupot but it didn't weigh any less than my current aluminium pot. The Mytipot saved me 90g.

I really like the idea of the high efficiency heat transfer though. It should be remembered that titanium is a poor thermal conductor compared to aluminium and I expect slightly longer cooking times although I will mostly be using it to boil water. I really need to buy both of them!
