hammock suspention advice needed
« on: March 03, 2014 »

hi there just given a hammock a tw compact.. brand new so chuffed as just building kit up now so great start.

my question is the webbing system on it works grand but means two straps running to tree and seems one to many with ridge line and so on. I have watched so many how to vids on youtube my heads turned.

I want single line from hammock and use webbing that came with hammock as tree huggers. iam looking webbing or rope to run inside hammock out both ends and on to a carabiner so iam asking advice on were to buy what to ask for and breaking strain.

I hope all tha made sence lol any advice very welcome.

Hi Rob,

Check out Whoopie Slings.
They're well worth the money, in terms of ease of use.

I got mine from DD hammocks,. but I'm sure they're stocked everywhere.

Makes hanging a hammock very very easy

TW Hammocks stock the full range of accessories for hammocking and are more than happy to post to Northern Ireland.

You can PM them for advice using our PM system and there's even 10% off on orders over £30 for NI WIld Members.

Hope you get sorted with what your looking for.

If you click on the Green "PM System" text in my last post it will take you straight to the messaging system and TW Hammocks is already set as the recipient.

Any probs let me know. The chap from TWHammocks is called Neil.

I second the whoopie slings from DD; I use their complete suspension kit and it makes life an absolute doddle; nothing worse and arriving cold, damp and tired and having to fiddle with knots and correct distances and all that malarkey....

Also check out Dutch' Flyz on UK Hammocks; great addition to a ridgeline to further make life easier...

Happy hanging!

i make my own whoopie slings, just buy the amsteel on DD hammocks site, £0.99 per meter.
10 meters of amsteel can make 2 x 6ft whoopies + lots left over to make a few soft shackles, fixed loops or some dog bones :)
youtube teaches us how to make the whoopie which is actually very easy once you get your head around what goes where.

whoopie is larks headed onto the hammock and then just onto a toggle (marlin spike thingy) hanging on your tree hugger.

I did give it a Google but there wasn't a particularly concise answer and I thought a discussion here might help other new hammockers.

Its a thin light line that attaches the hammock to the trees extremely strong like steel wire only in cord form its doubled up into its self to produce loops in turn you can adjust the height and tension to the hammock .
